Photojournalist Comic

This is an assignment for my Visual Narrative class with George Pratt and Marshall Vandruff. This has been the most fun assignment in all of TAD. The assignment was to use photo reference from a list of famous photojournalists and create an 8 page comic out of the photos with cropping the photos in your own way or combining photos together. The photojournalists include Dorothea Lange, Alfred Stieglitz, Frank Hurley, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Keith Carter, Euroda Welty, Manual Bravo Alvarez, and more. These images are 12 x 15, ink with a brush pen on bristol.

Some Figures that are TINY!!

I love tiny formats, one is a tiny figure painting in oil and the others are in a tiny sketchbook with black and white ink on mid tone paper. :)

Figures in Oil and an Old Pen and Ink

Here are some small figures in oil. The size is about 3 inches by 5 inches, and I think the studies were about 10 or 15 minutes each. The last image is an old pen and ink I did around December.

Dean Cornwell Master Copy and some Painting Studies

Alright, I've been working on this Dean Cornwell master copy for a while now. Here are two plein airs, one done on a cloudy day, the other on a sunny day. A complex turnaround from my figure class, and a painting of a picture of a sculpture trying out a pick out technique with oil.

Figures with Brush Pens

I haven't posted in a while, life comes first, I'm going to fix that though. Here are some figures. I have these colorful brush pens that are really tacky, it's interesting to try and make them work. :) I've been working a lot but not much to show, they are mostly exercises, but they are helping so much, I feel like I'm getting to a good place.

More Figures?!?!

I love figure drawing, but I've reached my limit for a time...I crammed a month's worth of work into a little over a week. I had some oil paint left over from making swatches, it's a sad sight to let oil paint go to waste. So the oil ones are from life, and they are either 10, 15, and 20 minutes long, and the top nupastel one is from a photo, and it's 20 minutes long.
